Our Team
Ryan Nguyen, CPA
Founder & CEO
Ryan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Colorado Denver in 2011 and his CPA shortly after in 2013. After graduating, he worked in various accounting roles, giving him a solid understanding of business and tax strategy. Ryan has industry experience in non-profit, environmental science, airline, and public accounting, with companies ranging from $5 million to $1.5 billion in revenue. This broad experience comes with a range of tax knowledge and niche skills that can be applied to any business for the best results. His creative problem-solving skills allow him to develop the best tax strategy to reduce your income tax liability, which is where you will find the most value.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with family, singing karaoke, riding his bike, driving fun cars, and indulging in all kinds of foods.
Ken Legge, CPA
Ken joined Nguyen & Associates in the fall of 2020.
He has been doing taxes since 2007, became a licensed CPA in 2011, and received a Master of Taxation from the University of Denver in 2013. He has worked in corporate, state, and local as well as public income taxation. He assists small and large businesses in real estate, telecom, retail, farm & ranch, oil & gas, and especially enjoys trust & estates. He excels at tax law and research and likes knowing, educating, and serving his individual clients.
Ken has two daughters and spends his free time outdoors with them or with friends. He also enjoys volunteering as part of his church family and especially likes jeeping and volleyball.
Katie McClintock, CPA
Katie earned her Bachelor’s in Computer Science Education from National University in Korea in 2004. She was certified and worked as a high school teacher from 2004 to 2006. Katie was a business owner/operator from 2009 to 2014, during which time she also studied accounting at the University of Colorado. She passed the CPA exams in 2017.
In her free time, Katie and her husband enjoy watching sports, especially Colorado Rockies games. They have four children who are all athletes competing at various levels in baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball.
James Choi, CPA
James joined Nguyen & Associates in November of 2021. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and obtained his CPA license in September 2018.
James has more than a decade of public accounting experience filing individual, corporate, and partnership returns focusing on clients operating within the hospitality and restaurant industries. He also has over 2 years of Oil and Gas accounting experience managing fixed assets and capital project accounting at MPLX LP.
James enjoys working with clients to ensure that their tax returns are accurate and that all deductions and credits have been applied to result in the lowest tax liabilities. In his free time, James enjoys playing golf and hiking.
Susan Ryan
Susan earned her Bachelor’s in Computer Management and Information Systems from Metropolitan State University in 2008. She worked as a database engineer for an aerospace company for several years, then as a stakeholder in an aerospace contracting company where she was also Director of Accounting and Human Resources. She earned her Certificate of Accounting in 2014 and has three years of experience preparing taxes. She is also working toward becoming an Enrolled Agent with the IRS.
Susan has two children and enjoys spending time outside with them and her dogs, hiking, attending concerts, traveling, DIY projects on her hundred-year-old home, and cooking.
Catherine Oakley
Catherine Oakley joined Nguyen & Associates in March of 2020, as the Office Coordinator and was promoted to Operations Manager in 2024. Her focus is on providing exceptional customer service while managing and providing support to our team of CPA’s.
Catherine earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of San Diego. She started her career in accounting at the corporate level of a large restaurant chain. She remained in the hospitality industry for many years before jumping into the public sector as an Analyst for a large school district. Stepping away from her career to raise her children, she served in Children’s ministry at her church for 11 years; a job that allowed her children to be a part of what she was doing. With her diverse experience and her passion for serving others, she strives to provide world-class care to both external and internal customers.
Catherine and her husband have 3 sons, and two very needy dogs. Catherine enjoys gardening, hiking, skiing, camping, home improvement projects, and family vacations to wine country.
Jordan Embree
Executive Assistant to the CEO
Jordan brings over 15 years of experience in high-level executive support, having held key roles as a Chief of Staff, business manager, and executive assistant across various industries. At Nguyen & Associates, Jordan delivers strategic support to CEO Ryan Nguyen, ensuring seamless operations and communication within the firm.
With a Bachelor of Science degree from the Metropolitan State University, Jordan combines a strong educational foundation with a wealth of experience in organizational leadership, process refinement, and strategic partnership. Specializing in client relations and operational management, Jordan plays a pivotal role in enhancing the client experience, coordinating complex schedules, and managing backend processes that drive the firm’s success.
Outside of her career, Jordan is a proud mother to one daughter. Together, they enjoy traveling and attending live music concerts, baking, being outside, creating cherished memories and exploring new experiences.
